2002年9月，我和一群两眼空洞的民工一起挤上轮船，顺长江而下，抵达南京。那是一段缓慢的旅程，也是一次漫长的告别。此后四年里，我一直以这种古典而自然的方式延续着我的旅程，迎来一个又一个春天。
慢慢的，我听不到江水拍打礁石的声音，曾经奔腾几千年的长江和神秘的三峡，终于沉静下来。躺在船舱中的我，却在这死一般的寂静中，难以入睡。
随着那个举世闻名的水利工程顺利完工，我那江边的小城开始逐渐隐没于水中。那些曾经见证了千家万户的欢笑哭泣以及屁股亲切的温度和一些肮脏下流的苟且之事的老房子，在拆迁工人的大锤下，化为一堆废墟 。
我无法确定通过那些幽暗的时光 ，究竟可以追寻到多少关于它的可靠片段。但即使现在时隔数年，我依旧可以感觉到那时明媚刺眼的阳光，男孩和女孩们行走在舒缓的空气当中，用他们绽放的笑脸全然无知地面对迎面而来的世界。 还有那每一个细雨飘扬的夜晚，穿过盘根错节的黄桷树，踩在古老的青石小径之上湿滑的感觉。
就像我无法真正听懂老人们讲述的有关”张飞庙”的古老传说一样，每当我絮絮叨叨地给女朋友讲起关于老城的故事，在她眼中我看到的只能是不理解的迷惘。
2006年1月，当我最后一次逆江而上经过小城的傍晚，城后五峰山的滑坡带像一块狰狞着的巨大伤疤，城西那座曾渡过六年时光的重点中学已经消失殆尽，校园最高处残缺的”手掌”雕塑孤零零地矗立在那里，依稀中，像极了懵懂少年对着长江比出的中指。
船的左舷站满了回乡的旅人，安静地注视着江边的断壁残垣，恬静而忧伤。江面的水雾瞬间沸腾了我的双眼。
船在夹杂众多漂浮物的墨绿色江水中挣扎，人们绝望地在空旷的水面上迎接着风浪。
